I went to the nursery and I was very excited. That was until I received my first task. I had to sweep the floors. After about an hour of sweeping, I was told to do some other things. I learned how to use a price gun today! The staff were all very nice, and i had the pleasure of meeting all of them. There were more customers than I had expected, and a lot of them kept asking me questions. My reply every single time was "It's my first today, let me get someone who can help you." Overall I had a very good experience. The difference between working and going to school, is that at work, i was always on my feet and keeping busy, unlike at school. The hours are also longer at work.

Today was very interesting. I started off sweeping the whole nursery, which is not very exciting. after i finished that, i helped restock all the flowers that were on display. I had to make many trips back and forth from the flower shop to the greenhouses in the back. The truck with more flowers also came, and i spent some time unloading that. After i finished that, I spent four hours fixing up the rose bush display. By "fixing up" i mean, cutting the dead stems, sweeping the debris, and organizing the rosebushes to look nice. I got to learn alot about my employer as well, because we spent some time talking while working with the flowers. A positive experience I had with my boss was when I was about to leave, he gave another co-worker their paycheck right in front of me. He started laughing, and he said "Don't worry you will get some flower when you leave, and if you want, you can work here after this wex is finished." I felt good because he had offered me a job. A good experience I had with a customer was when and indo canadian man walked up to me and started asking me questions. He told me he was grateful I was there because I could tell him which products were good to buy. I felt useful, and that makes me happy. An unexpected event was occurred when I was working with the rosebushes. I was getting tired so I turned around to get my water bottle, and my friend Albert, who work at the nursery after school, jumped in front of me, and scared me silly. I was totally shocked and almost fell onto the rosebushes.

I arrived at the nursery feeling a bit tired. After finishing off my usual sweeping, i helped started putting moss in some baskets. The moss really made these flower baskets look nice, and they were not even that hard to make, just time consuming. When i finished with that, i had to halp my co-worker load up tons of bio-degradable pots. We had to return them because they would crack easily when moisture was absorbed into them. We ended up cracking a few up ourselves. When that was done with, I had the responsibility of taking some hanging pots from the back greenhouse and picking off all the dead leaves and such. When i completed that task, I was to hang all the baskets. A positive experience I had with my co-worker was when I was hanging baskets, the sun was getting in my eyes, and tears were streaming down my face. My co-worker saw this and told everyone I was crying because i was not going to be working for free, for them after this week. We had many laughs at that scenario, and that was pretty funny. Later on, my friends Lucas and Albert, who work at the nursery after school, arrived and started working. We did a couple of more odd jobs, and had fun while doing it. There a few jobs that exist in this workplace. You can be a floral designer, cashier, greenhouse worker, truck driver, and helper. You don't need any specific type of education to work here, unless you want to be a floral designer. One thing that I expereienced that will forever be engraved in my memory is the atmosphere in this workplace. The staff is incredibly friendly, the customers were very patient and understanding, and the air was so easy to breath! It was a wonderful experience to say the least.

I woke up early, excited for my last day of work experience. I arrived early, as usual, and started my morning sweep. After i finished that, I spent the rest of the time re-stocking and organizing the plants in the nursery. All the while, helping customers by directing them to the nearest co-worker, who actually knew something about the plants. After lunch, I started moving around Banana Trees, making baskets, cleaning up, and watering/pricing plants. It sounds easy, but it was actually a lot of work. I really enjoyed this work experience, and I hope that i can do something like this in the future. This line of work is maybe something i would like to do part time or while studying, but not something i would do as a career. Something that will forever be engraved in my memory is when my co-worker, who has been working there for about 13 years, asked another co-worker where the cucumbers were. We started laughing so hard, and kept bugging him about for many days because after all that time in the workplace, he still had trouble finding specific things.
